City of Gautier Approves Hotel Development at Town Commons

The Gautier City Council has approved plans for a new hotel at Gautier Town Commons. The hotel will be located on a 2.9-acre site designated for hospitality and will feature a Hilton- or Marriott-branded property with approximately 100 rooms.

Under the agreement, construction must be completed within 18 months of closing. The project also includes major infrastructure improvements, such as extending access roads, utilities, drainage, and sidewalks to connect the hotel site with the future Mississippi Songwriters Performing Arts Center. Once completed, these improvements will be dedicated back to the city.

This development marks another milestone for Town Commons, which continues to grow as a hub for entertainment, recreation, and economic opportunity in Gautier.

Paula Yancey

Paula Yancey Steps Down Following Nearly Ten Years as City Manager

The City of Gautier extends its heartfelt gratitude to City Manager Paula Yancey, who stepped down at the end of September, after nearly ten years of dedicated service.

During her tenure, Paula oversaw some of Gautier’s most important achievements. From the opening of The Sound Amphitheater and acquisition of the former Singing River Mall site to major water and sewer improvements and upgrades to recreational and boating facilities, her leadership has left a lasting impact on our community.

Mayor Casey Vaughan shared his appreciation, noting that Paula’s passion, commitment, and expertise helped set Gautier on a new path of growth and opportunity saying, “her impact on Gautier will never be forgotten.”

As the recruitment process for the next City Manager moves forward, the City Council has appointed Chassity Bilbo, Parks and Recreation Director, as Interim City Manager. This ensures continuity in leadership and ongoing momentum.

The City of Gautier thanks Mrs. Yancey for her many years of service and wishes her the very best as she begins her next chapter.

26th Annual Veterans’ Breakfast at Gautier High School

26th Annual Veterans’ Breakfast at Gautier High School

Gautier High School will once again host its 26th Annual Veterans’ Breakfast on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the GHS gymnasium. This special event honors our local heroes and provides an opportunity for students and the community to come together in gratitude.

This year’s guest speaker is Mr. Bill Robinson of Knoxville, TN, a Vietnam Veteran and former Prisoner of War who spent 7.5 years in captivity in North Vietnam. His remarkable story is detailed in the book The Longest Rescue. We are honored to welcome him to Gautier to share his experiences with our veterans, students, and community.

All area veterans and active military are invited to attend and enjoy a complimentary southern breakfast, followed by a patriotic schoolwide assembly led by the GHS student body. No RSVP is required.
