Mississippi Songwriters Performing Arts Center Moves Forward

The long-anticipated Mississippi Songwriters Performing Arts Center and Hall of Fame Museum is officially moving forward. The City has awarded the construction contract, and work is set to begin this month.

Construction is expected to take approximately 14 months. The Performing Arts Center will serve as both a cultural hub and an economic driver for the region, attracting visitors and supporting Mississippi’s rich musical legacy.

Special thanks to the Mississippi Songwriters Alliance for their continued partnership in making this project a reality. Stay tuned for more updates as construction begins!

Utility Flags

Utility Flag Awareness

If you see colored flags placed in your yard or neighborhood, don’t remove them! These flags mark underground utility lines and are placed in preparation for upcoming work in the area. Removing them could delay or disrupt important projects—and pose safety risks.

Each flag color represents a different utility: Blue – Water, Green – Sewer, Red – Power, Yellow – Gas, Orange – Fiber.

The flags are typically placed in the City utility easement and should remain in place until the work is complete. These markers are essential for protecting workers, residents, and property during construction or utility work.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community safe!
