Shellie Purvis Named 2024 Top Lobbyist

The City of Gautier proudly recognized Shellie Purvis, a representative of Cogent Strategies and the City’s federal lobbyist since 2017, with a proclamation and a Key to the City during the April 16 City Council meeting. Miss Purvis was recently named a 2024 Top Lobbyist by the National Institute for Lobbying & Ethics (NILE), a prestigious national honor.

Since working with the City, Shellie has helped secure more than $26 million in federal funding for critical infrastructure and quality-of-life projects in Gautier.

Her dedication, expertise, and strategic advocacy have played a pivotal role in moving Gautier forward.

Gautier Town Center Development Takes Key Steps Forward

The Gautier Town Center project is advancing, with the awning demolition behind Belk officially going out to bid on April 22.

Next, the long-anticipated Mississippi Songwriters Performing Arts Center and Museum will reach a major milestone. The project is scheduled to go out to bid for construction in May. Once complete, the center will feature a Mississippi Songwriters Hall of Fame museum, performance hall, classrooms, gallery, and a recording studio—serving as a cornerstone of cultural and economic growth in the Town Center.

Development takes time to be done right—for both municipalities and businesses. There are many moving parts, including economic factors, legal and privacy obligations, and business timelines.

Stay tuned for more updates as these transformative projects take shape in Gautier!
