Highway 90 Sanitary Sewer and Water Lines Project Underway

Work is now underway on the Hwy. 90 Sanitary Sewer and Water Lines-SR Mall Project.

The City awarded the $1,069,667.45 contract to Bottom 2 Top, LLC. Funded through the Mississippi Municipality & County Water Infrastructure Grant Program Act (MCWI), the project will significantly improve water and wastewater infrastructure along Hwy. 90. Planned enhancements include 2,180 feet of 8-inch water line, 2,300 feet of 12-inch sanitary sewer line, and 10 new manholes.

These critical upgrades will not only enhance the existing infrastructure but also prepare the property for future development of Gautier Town Commons, making it easier for new structures to connect to the system. This investment is a key step in supporting growth and expanding opportunities in the area.

Gautier Leisure and Recreation District

Leisure and Recreation District Established

The City of Gautier passed an ordinance creating a "Leisure and Recreation District" encompassing the entire city limits. This initiative, authorized by Mississippi’s 2016 legislation (House Bill 1223), aims to enhance entertainment opportunities and promote economic activity.

Key highlights include:

  • Businesses with on-premise alcohol permits within the district can allow patrons to carry and consume open alcoholic beverages in designated containers (excluding cans, bottles, or glass).
  • Strict guidelines ensure public safety, with law enforcement actively monitoring the district and maintaining order.
  • Public consumption of alcoholic beverages is restricted to specified containers, with limits on the quantity allowed to exit a licensed premise.

This ordinance strives to balance leisure opportunities with responsible regulations, fostering a vibrant and secure community environment while preparing for future development.
