Gautier Adopts Fiscal Year 2025 Budget

The City of Gautier has adopted its FY 2025 budget, focusing on improving quality of life, driving economic development, and enhancing workforce competitiveness. The millage rate is 43.00 mills, and projected revenues are $12 million, with expenditures totaling $13.7 million.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Economic Development: Boosting the City's competitiveness for future growth.
  • Community Improvement: Expanding services and recreational opportunities.
  • Workforce Development: New pay scale and retention plans for Police and Fire Departments.

Utility rates will see slight increases, including a new garbage collection fee of $31 per month (more information in the below article). This budget supports key projects and maintains Gautier’s commitment to growth and service quality.

Waste Pro

Gautier Renews Solid Waste Services Contract with Waste Pro

The City of Gautier has renewed its solid waste services contract with Waste Pro following a competitive bidding process. After evaluating two offers, the Gautier City Council decided to continue its partnership with Waste Pro, entering into a new six-year agreement.

This renewed contract, which will take effect on October 7, 2024, will include services for trash pick-up and storm debris removal. To keep costs as low as possible for residents, recycling services are not included in the new agreement. However, those who wish to recycle can still do so through Waste Pro’s subscription program, available by contacting Waste Pro directly.

Residents will notice a slight increase in the waste portion of their water bill due to inflation since the previous rates were set in the 2018 contract. With this adjustment, the new rates remain comparable to those in neighboring municipalities.

The City of Gautier appreciates Waste Pro’s ongoing commitment to the community and looks forward to maintaining this productive partnership.

Pink October

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This October, the City of Gautier stands with communities across the nation in recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing awareness about breast cancer, supporting those impacted, and emphasizing the importance of early detection.

Breast cancer affects millions of women and their families every year, but early detection through regular screenings can significantly improve outcomes. We encourage everyone to take this opportunity to learn more about prevention, screening options, and ways to support those battling the disease. Whether it's scheduling a mammogram or lending a hand to a loved one, every step makes a difference.

Throughout the month, let’s come together to show our support for survivors, honor those who have lost their battle, and work to spread awareness in our community.
