Gautier Partners with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on $3.6 Million of Infrastructure Upgrades
The City of Gautier officially signed a Project Partnership Agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District, marking a significant step forward in the city's infrastructure development. This collaboration, part of the Mississippi Environmental Infrastructure Program, is focused on enhancing Gautier’s water, sewer, and drainage systems.
Mayor Vaughan signed the agreement on behalf of the city, while Col. Jeremiah Gipson, Vicksburg District Commander, represented USACE. The $3.6 million investment is funded through a cost-sharing agreement, with $2.7 million provided by the federal government and $900,000 contributed by the City of Gautier.
The project includes critical improvements such as replacing copper pipes at the chemical building at the treatment plant in Public Works, addressing drainage at West Park in the southern part of Gautier, and repairing the Bucks Road sewage lift station. Additionally, the project will involve main waterline improvements and tie-ins at the Singing River Mall area to support the ongoing economic development at the Town Commons.
The City of Gautier is excited to move forward with these essential upgrades, confident that they will enhance the quality of life for all residents.
