Department Organization
- Chief Of Police: Dante Elbin
Patrol Division:
The patrol Division, Supervised by Captain Vincent Nicholson is comprised of four rotating shifts of six officers each. Each shift is supervised by a Lieutenant and Sergeant. Each officer is assigned to one of the four beats which the city is divided into.
Traffic Division:
Traffic Division, supervised by Captain Kenny McMellon is comprised of six Officers which operate four motorcycles and two automobiles. The traffic division is supervised by a Captain and Sergeant. These Officers work various duty hours covering six school zones, special details and enforcing traffic laws throughout the city.
Criminal Investigations Division
Administration Division:
The Criminal Investigations Division and the Administration Division are both supervised by Captain Danny Selover. The Criminal Investigations Divison is comprised of eight investigators. These investigators are supervised by a Lieutenant and Sergeant. Each investigator is assigned to either the six person investigations unit, or one of the two Narcotics Task Forces.
Drug Interdiction:
The city’s drug interdiction officer is Officer David Bever. These officers are responsible for pro-active drug enforcement and fugitive tracking.
Training Captain:
The continous training and education of the Gautier Police Department is under the command and organization of Captain Vincent Nicholson
Communications Division:
The communiciations division, supervised by Tac-Officer Melissa Ezell is responsible for processing calls for service, dispatching police, fire, and medical aid and assisting with daily police functions. Melissa is also a certified Reserve Officer volunteering her off time to assist Patrol and serve our citizens.
Reserve Officers:
The Gautier Police Department Reserve Officer program is under the supervison of Commander Tony Best. The program is comprised of community members who volunteer their time to fulfill many of the roles handled by full-time sworn police officers. Reserve officers receive the same training as fulltime officers and work alongside them in every aspect of Department operations.
