Mississippi Masterpieces Bicentennial Celebration of the Arts

The Mississippi Masterpieces Art and Songwriting Contest,
hosted by the City of Gautier in celebration of the state’s bicentennial, will
culminate with a final event on Nov. 10, 2017, at the Gautier Convention Center
from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This event is a celebration of the arts in Mississippi.
There will be a juried art show, live music, special performances by the
winning songwriters, and an appearance and reading by former Mississippi
Supreme Court Justice Randy Pierce, a Greene County native and novelist. 

This official bicentennial project is made possible by a
grant from the Mississippi Humanities Council, through support from the

Grand Prizes

Art Division
Adult: $1,250 Purchase Prize
Youth: $500 Purchase Prize

Purchases are being made by Merchants &  Marine Bank for display in the new Gautier branch. Adult art will hang in the lobby, and youth art will hang in the community room.    

Songwriting Division
Adult: $850 Cash Prize
Youth: $250 Cash Prize

As part of the grand prize package, the winner in each division will also receive studio time to record the winning song (donated by the Mississippi Songwriters Alliance) and a guaranteed performance slot in the Mississippi Songwriters Festival in September.
