Grants & Special Projects
The Grants and Special Projects Manager for the City of Gautier researches and secures corporate, government and foundation funding for annual operating expenses, project support and special events sponsorship’s. Priorities are determined based on community need; as supervisor of the Neighborhood Services Division, the Grants and Projects Manager stays keenly attuned to the needs of Gautier’s residents and community groups.
Once a grant has been awarded and the project is started, the Manager is responsible for all reporting, tracking and paperwork until grant close-out.
In October 2014, the City of Gautier was awarded a three-year Brownfields Assessment Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. According to the EPA, “with certain legal exclusions and additions, the term brownfield site means real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant”. This includes petroleum as well as hazardous substances.

Citizen involvement is an important part of this work. Check back often for updates on the project’s progress.
