Purchasing Department Mission Statement

To professionally procure all goods and services essential to the City of Gautier and to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the procurement process in an environment that is fair to all qualified vendors.

Goals & Objectives:

To be responsive for the following:

To provide timely acquisition of goods and services in support of City operation and scheduled projects.  Continue implementation of strategic plan to revise and improve the purchasing process.  Initiate additional interaction with internal customers to become increasingly knowledgeable about their operational needs and to assist them with acquisition and budgetary planning. Maintain an emergency acquisition process that protects the best interest of the City and the citizens of Gautier.  Maintain an open system that provides access to suppliers wishing to vie for City business and support local firms in that effort.

To be responsible:

Process transactions in accordance with applicable regulation.  Acquire goods and services at the lowest possible cost, consistent with the quality needed for effective use.  Actively promote and exercise the competitive acquisition process to add value and protect the taxpayers’ investment. Remain active in cooperative Purchasing efforts with other agencies.  Protect the City reputation by promoting and adhering to high ethical standards.
