Welcome  to the Gautier Police Department

Chief of Police – Eddie Williams

The City of Gautier Police Department (GPD) was established October 1st, 1987 and is currently charged with law enforcement protection to over 19,500 residents with 32 square miles of territory. The City of Gautier sees an estimated 80,000 – 100,000 additional people passing through it’s boundaries on any given day traveling the East/West corridors of both Interstate 10 and Highway 90. These figures increase during both the summer months and holiday seasons due to Gautier’s proximity to the Casino industry to our West and the Florida Beaches to our East.

The Gautier Police Department consists of 42 sworn Officers, 6 Communications Operators, 2 Animal Control Officers, 1 Records Clerk and 1 Administrative Assistant. The sworn Officers are assigned to duty in either Patrol, Traffic, Criminal Investigations, Narcotics, Crime Prevention or K-9 Drug Interdiction.

This program has proven to work with excellent results in the areas of vehicle maintenance, Officer availability and crime prevention. The remaining 11 units are used for our Reserve Officers and are used to back up our main fleet should one of those units need service for any lenght of time.
