Purchasing Department

Duties & Responsibilities

The Purchasing Department is responsible for the purchasing of commodities, equipment, and services at the lowest and best costs consistent with the item’s current economic conditions.  The Purchasing Department’s mission is to sagequard the standard of quality, continuity of service, and the city’s reputation for fairness and integrity.

Purchasing Guidelines

  • $0 – $5,000:                        Quotes not required
  • $5,001 – $50,000:                At least two competitive quotes required
  • $50,000 or more:                  Bid process including public advertising

For those items more than $50,000, the contract requirements will be advertised in the local newspaper.
